Ashley was raised by her late mother Sharon Olson’s parents, her grandmother Hantie Robinson and grandfather Eddie Robison. She studied and worked for 1 year as a full scholarship Auxillary Nursing student where she worked and did her hours at an Old age home in Krugersdorp. Ashley fell in love with taking care of the Elderly. This is where she realized working every day with frail care that they had the great need for basic toiletries and medical care, as also just a little bit of company as many did not have family that visited them. Many elderly were mistreated and forgotten.
It is Ashley’s goal to help as many Elderly people with anything she possibly can, from care giving to toiletries or even a little bit of conversation and a visit once a month.
Sitting beside the bed talking away with the most beautiful ladies and gentleman, showed Ashley how they loved just a little bit of conversation. Many of their children lived too far and they could not visit a lot, sometimes only receiving one visit once a year. They are left with very little to buy things they need or even just a little packet of sweets to enjoy.
Ashley feels that the youth of today, need to look after those who are before them, who raised them, who made everything possible for them to be where we are today. Ashley gives her life to giving and helping others. From the age of 14 years old she has given her spare time to doing things to better others’ lives. Ashley was awarded a certificate as the youngest CANSA volunteer in Parys. Her maternal grandmother fought breast cancer and later had a double mastectomy. After realizing the need for the elderly to be taken care of and looked after in a time of need. Ashley has given her time to helping those with cancer. Ashley currently also volunteers for CANSA West rand.
At the age of 15 Ashley was crowned Miss Parys High, 1 st princess, and Miss Community (Miss Community was granted to the student who did the most charity work done in the town).
The majority of her projects were all in aid of the elderly. She visited all old age homes in Parys took little gifts, did their nails and hair and arranged dance shows for some fun and exciting entertainment.
